UNIQUE-CHARDAN TO STAY IN BRYAN AND ADD 30 JOBS

$400,000 Investment Will Support 82 Jobs

BRYAN – JobsOhio President and Chief Investment Officer John Minor today announced that advanced auto parts manufacturer Unique-Chardan, Inc. has made a commitment to grow its footprint in Ohio, which includes the creation of 30 new jobs and retention of 52 at its facility in Bryan.

“Unique-Chardan is an important employer and partner in the Bryan community,” said Minor. “We are thrilled that the company chose to expand its operations here and that 30 more jobs are on the way to Northwest Ohio.”

Minor noted that the quality work produced at this facility is yet another great example of Ohio’s strength in advanced auto parts manufacturing.

Former Chardan Corporation was acquired in early 2014 by Unique Fabricating, which is based in Michigan. At the time, company officials considered moving operations of the newly formed Unique-Chardan out of Ohio. Instead of relocating, a decision was made to make up to $400,000 in upgrades to the Bryan facility and add 30 new jobs to the existing workforce.

"Chardan is a leader in producing fusion molded products for the automotive and medical industries,” said Unique-Chardan President and CEO John Weinhardt. “Unique plans to leverage this technology to accelerate the growth of our automotive business, utilizing our Bryan, Ohio, location as the center of expertise and principal production site."

Chardan Corporation was founded in Bryan in 1975 as an automotive die-cut fabricator of non-metallic materials in support of original equipment manufacturers and their tier-one suppliers. Unique Fabricating, Inc., a leading manufacturer of die cut and molded rubber, foam and plastic components for the automotive industry, already had existing facilities in Michigan and Georgia.
